BACKGROUND
Jim has been working with educators and youth facilitators for more than 20 years with AHA! (www.ahasb.org). AHA! is a one-of-a-kind organization committed to developing and implementing Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL). Since 1999, AHA! has provided social-emotional education to over 20,000 teens and youth care providers. AHA! equips teenagers, educators and parents with social and emotional intelligence to dismantle apathy, prevent despair and interrupt hate-based behavior. Jim began testing his Check Your Attitude program developed for corporations with the trained facilitators at AHA! to determine if he would need to change it for the teen youth groups. AHA! confirmed that the materials were good to go and they became part of the AHA! curriculum. More recently Jim led the faculty orientation Check Your Attitude workshop for the Carpeteria School District as part of his volunteer work for AHA! That 3-hour seminar became one of the templates used in school districts.
In addition to his work with AHA!, Jim also works with the Flourish Agenda (www.flourishagenda.com/), whose focus is working with African American youth in the greater Bay area. He trains the youth facilitators who offer the Check Your Attitude program in their summer youth retreat.
